How do I preview my tax before I sell?

Use the Tax outlook slider to see net proceeds, gain and tax for a partial sale.

Updated 22 Jul 2026

Thinking about trimming a holding? The Tax outlook panel lets you drag a slider and watch what you'd actually walk away with, before you commit to anything.

Use the slider

On the holding's page, find the Tax outlook panel. Drag the Sell quantity slider, or tap a preset: 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. Everything updates live.

Drag to any amount and read You'll receive, P&L and Tax to pay.

Read the three numbers

  • You'll receive: your net proceeds, after tax.
  • P&L: the gain on the part you'd sell.
  • Tax to pay: the estimated tax, with the effective rate beneath it.

The bar underneath splits the sale into Invested, Profit and Tax so you can see the shape of it at a glance.

Note: The panel tells you whether the gain is long- or short-term and applies the ₹1.25L long-term exemption where it fits. Tap Show details to see the full working, line by line.

Nothing here books a sale. It's a preview. When you're ready to go ahead, use Sell and confirm.
