All funds ranks the fund houses by AUM at the last month end, without fund of funds. NJ Mutual Fund has no AUM on file yet, so it is listed last. A type tab ranks them by their number of funds of that type. Counts are funds with a published portfolio. Funds with no type yet count only under All funds.

All Mutual Fund Houses in India

A fund house pools money from many investors and invests it across stocks, bonds and other assets. Pick one to see all its funds.

    What is a Fund House?

A fund house, also called an Asset Management Company or AMC, runs mutual fund schemes. It pools money from many investors and invests it in stocks, bonds and other assets. SEBI regulates every fund house in India.

What a fund house does with your money

A fund house looks after the money in each of its schemes. This is the work it does.

    • Research

Its analysts study companies, sectors and interest rates to decide what each scheme should own.

    • Asset allocation

It splits each scheme's money between stocks, bonds and cash, inside the limits SEBI sets for that category.

    • Building the portfolio

The fund manager buys, holds and sells securities to match the scheme's stated objective.

    • Monthly disclosure

It publishes every scheme's full portfolio each month. That statement is the source of the holdings on these pages.

    • Daily NAV

It values each scheme every business day and reports the NAV to AMFI.

    • Compliance

It follows SEBI's mutual fund rules. A trustee company oversees it on behalf of investors.

Kinds of funds a fund house runs

SEBI sorts mutual fund schemes into categories. These are the main groups.

    • Equity funds

Invest mainly in stocks. Large cap, mid cap, small cap and flexi cap funds belong here.

    • Debt funds

Invest in bonds, treasury bills and other fixed-income papers. Liquid and overnight funds belong here.

    • Hybrid funds

Hold both stocks and bonds in one scheme, in a mix the category defines.

    • Index funds and ETFs

Copy a market index such as the Nifty 50. They usually charge a lower expense ratio.

    • Gold and silver funds

Hold the metal itself or units of a gold or silver ETF.

    • Tax-saving funds (ELSS)

Equity funds with a three-year lock-in. They qualify for the Section 80C deduction under the old tax regime.

What to check before you pick a fund house

    • What the fund holds

Read the portfolio, not only the name. Two funds in one category can own very different stocks.

    • Portfolio changes

See what the manager bought and sold each month. Frequent large changes are worth a closer look.

    • Expense ratio

It is charged every year. Compare the Direct and Regular plans of the same fund.

    • Fund manager

Check how long the current manager has run the scheme.

    • Exit load

Some funds charge a fee when you sell within a set period.

    • Benchmark

Know which index the fund is measured against before you judge its results.

    Who regulates fund houses?

Every fund house in India works under SEBI's mutual fund regulations. AMFI is the industry body that publishes fund data.

    SEBI sets the rules:

    AMFI publishes the data:

Mutual Fund Houses: Frequently Asked Questions

Who regulates fund houses in India?

SEBI regulates every mutual fund and its fund house. AMFI, the industry body, publishes the daily NAV and the expense ratio of each scheme.

What is the difference between a Direct plan and a Regular plan?

Both plans hold the same portfolio. A Regular plan pays a commission to a distributor, so its expense ratio is higher and its NAV is lower. A Direct plan has no commission.

How often do funds publish their holdings?

Every month. Each fund house publishes the full portfolio of each scheme within ten days of the month end.

What is an Asset Management Company (AMC)?

An AMC, or fund house, is the company that runs mutual fund schemes. It collects money from investors and invests it in stocks, bonds and other assets, under SEBI's rules.

Where does this data come from?

NAV and expense ratios come from AMFI. Holdings come from the monthly portfolio statement that each fund house publishes. Fund facts come from each scheme's summary document.

How many fund houses are listed here?

51 fund houses and 2,087 funds. A fund is listed once its fund house has published a portfolio for it.

This page is information, not investment advice. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme related documents carefully. Past returns do not promise future returns. Figures come from AMFI, NSE, BSE and each fund house's own documents.
